About Erik Aeder
Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery and today is a gift…that is why they call it the present….
Erik Aeder has been capturing images of the ocean and it’s lifestyle for most of his life. He is known worldwide for his extreme water sports photography in surfing, windsurfing, kiting and stand-up paddle as well as his fine art images, Bodies of Water, a soulful expression of grace and form integrating the female body under water in unique locations around the globe.
Based in Hawaii, Erik has had the opportunity to work with some of the best athletes in the industry. His work has taken him to remote locations in the South Pacific, Indonesian Archepelago as well as Europe, South America and Australia among other international locations. Erik was the first surf photographer to document the exotic island of Nias, Indonesia, Easter Island and the famous big wave tow-in surfing spot “Jaws”, Peahi, Maui. His unique shots have been seen nationally and internationally in publications such as Time, Playboy, Outside, Men’s Journal and National Geographic Adventure to name just a few. He is a senior photographer for Surfer, Windsurfing and Kiteboarding magazines.
Erik has been creating his series, “Bodies of Water” for the past decade. Inspired by the malability of the ocean’s texture, color, movement and vibrancy, Erik blends this essence with that of the female body, creating images of ethereal reality. Constantly on the lookout for locations, models and ideas to produce new imagery to add to the collection.
